@Mariano I started with Mistborn too! I keep wanting to get into the Stormlight Archives but they are just so massive that I feel like I never have the time to just read for large blocks of time like I want to lol.

RE: BOOKS!
@merlin You know, I vaguely recall seeing the cover for this one I think. Sometimes I am guilty of stockpiling new books but getting hung up on a book I've read 5 or more times lol.

RE: Animal Companions
@mianngu I was super excited for HTTYD to come out. I still remember getting out of the hospital and going straight to the theaters for it. Definitely one of my favorites lol. The sequels not so much...

BOOKS!
I want all the book recommendations. I love fantasy, epic fantasy, outside the box thinking, and even a little bit sci-fi. I loved The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear. And I'm always looking for something that reminds me of those while we wait another (hopefully not) decade for the third book.
But I would love to hear your favorites.

RE: Trauma Bond anyone?
@merlin I certainly try to keep moving forward, though I have considered some pretty radical things to try and get over this faster because of course he wants to still be "friends" lol.

RE: Trauma Bond anyone?
@mianngu yea my dumb ass shops way ahead for people so I already have his xmas present lol.
And, he still wants to go with me to the event he bought tickets for for my birthday. So. Awko-taco.

RE: Gaming Tattoos
I feel like all of my gaming tattoos would either always be small (not because they aren't important, more like an easter egg) or very retro. Honestly with all the tattoos I have, I am surprised that I don't really have any gamer ones. I have two White Wolf tattoos mind you lol. But surprisingly no Zelda, Pokemon, Spyro, Final Fantasy, no Kingdom Hearts lol.

RE: Gaming Tattoos
@SwampCreature mine would be at like... 1/2 one heart lol

Trauma Bond anyone?
Ok ok, that makes it sound worse than it actually is....
Ok, yea, my dreamy S.O. kinda did dump me and I kinda didn't take it well.
We all know the ridiculous advice we get post breakup, some of useful, all of it well meaning, none of it wanted at the time lol.
So what are your go-to things you try to do when heartbroken? Because lets face it, if you are doing the breaking, that mess rolls off like water off a duck. I am looking for any and all distractions, advice, or hell, even to read about some of the wacky things you were told.
My favorite is that my half sister's mother believes a good sh*t will fix anything. Tired? Go poop. Migraine? Go poop. Stub your toe? Poop. Car won't start? You guessed it....

@mianngu I feel like I should know what this book is?

RE: Let's vent! Your worst day!
@TableTopProphet I am so sorry to hear this happened to you. What should have been a monumental occasion turned to ash... as someone who lives paycheck to paycheck like that, I get it. Its worse when you can't even count on the money coming in to break even. I theorize the less control a person feels they have over their own life, the more panicked they become, and often poor choices follow.

RE: Let's vent! Your worst day!
I think I have a worst year. 2013 literally from January 1st until December 31st was a shit show lol. I went on a new year's day date which resulted in me falling on ice, getting a "bruised bone" injury (meaning I guess I just can't bend my knee for 9 months, but hey, no cast so that means I'll do it on accident a lot...) and then breaking up new year's eve with one of the worst relationships I have ever had (not the same guy tho).
Honestly the only other instance that comes to mind is when my most recent ex broke up with me via a lie he told the police, causing them bust into our home and force me out of the shower while I was ignorantly singing and soaping up for date night.

Rolling stories! Keep it going!
The only rule: keep the story going! Build off the previous post(s) and write one paragraph.
So I will start.
Once upon a time our story begins, and like all stories, it has the prerequisite famous opening line. Except for that part. Ok, I'm bad at this. My story begins with the Knights of Charming. You see, there was never a Prince Charming, but rather, a full knighthood of men, sworn to protect humanity from all manner of mythical and magical entities. In fact, the first among us were Druids, and we got our name from literally charming these creatures and making favorable deals with them. I suppose they could have just as easily been named the Knights of Bargaining, but that would be ridiculous. One such deal made, I suspect, was that every knight who sired heirs would only produce sons. Until me. My name is Charlotte Charming, or it would be, if anyone in my Order outside my parents knew my secret. So my family knows me as Charlie, and I live as far away from the Knights as possible. I know what you're thinking, girls can be knights too! It's the 24th century, God has been disproven, the governing bodies of each country control the weather, and thanks to my Order, no one believes in or even thinks about the other. But the Geezers of Charming are a superstitious lot, and my birth could mean the end of a pact and the start of an unforgiving prophecy. So here I am, 22 years later in hiding, sitting in the sterile lab for Advanced Bio-Nano Tech when I feel my longest, and frankly, only friend Zeke, jab me in the suprasternal notch.
"Earth to Charlie Charms! So are you coming or not choom?" he asked as I went to rub the base of my throat, catching myself once I remembered what was on my gloved hand.

RE: What is one thing you would change about modern video games?
@TableTopProphet I would definitely agree with that. Red Tape slows if not completely halts everything. I'm sure even LiveTale will experience some of these but I am really hoping they stay true to what they set out to do. I adore the concept of being able to visually see a world or story I create. Like a build-your-own-adventure book lol.
When I was younger, I couldn't decide what form my story should take. At first I thought I would make it a manga. And while I still would love to, I don't have the time to learn to draw the background things like buildings, scenery, transport vehicles etc.
Then I had the idea of it being a video game, but again, I would need to learn to code and probably a plethora of skills I lack.
So I settle on books. But with LiveTale, it is possible that someday I could do it more like a game. It would take a lot more tweaking though since I have been adapting it to a novel for years now lol.

RE: Tell the Truth now!
@SwampCreature we should try to find a bat sanctuary to hang out at! I love bats too. I want to have enough property to have a bat house^-^

RE: What is one thing you would change about modern video games?
@TableTopProphet
So I'm trying to write a book or three, and I gotta say, I definitely have been trying to avoid most of these and then some. Don't get me wrong, sometimes epic fantasy is fun because I think deep down, we all want to be that hero who saves them all or whatever. People want to feel important, but the day to day minutiae is the best most people will ever get. Fiction lets us be special in a world where most are just expendable. -
Which RPG or TTRPG would you want to see as a VR game?
Ok so if I had the money to drop on a really cool VR headset, I would say top 3 games I would want to play something like Final Fantasy. BUT if it were the kind of VR where you had a running platform, and fancy full body sensors.... then my answer would be the Prince of Persia games (ps2). I don't try to tease myself with knowledge of how immersive the gaming experience can be, because it probably it'd cost too much and ignorance is bliss lol. But if I could experience combat and parkour in a crazy VR game, that would be epic lol.
At the very least, I would get one hell of a work out.

RE: DANGER!
I feel like we keep assuming weres are these like peaceful souls who just want to go romping in nature and who would be considerate enough to lock themselves up when they know they will change soon. But what if they really aren't?
Here me out. What if they did live in the city, where "animal" attacks keep happening? I mean, someone might call animal control, but I doubt those fellas are packing silver. What if they said screw it and just mauled folks once a month and disappeared? I believe they also could create an organized crime structure, but maybe theirs will be more centered around fixed cage matches and taking on jobs as hitmen. I imagine it would be easy to tear through a target's (and possibly their entourage) and it would be written off as an accident because who is going to charge an animal they can't find for murder? Admittedly I am not taking my crazy idea too seriously, because I am coming off a 12 hours shift lol.
