What was your first gaming system?

@Kismet Oh yea and Mario Kart, I played it so much I ended up driving the levels backward all the time and just driving around to explore the environments

@SwampCreature lol yea we have def talked about it. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE Spyro, and even bought it for the ps4 and was playing it with my ex. But yea, Final Fantasy games hold my heart hostage lol.
And THANK YOU. I think I finally know why I liked IX lol. You're right, Cloud and Squall were both broody and back then, child me wasn't into broody guys lol. Those didn't enter my fantasies until I was a teenager.

@Kismet I used to play OoT just to explore Hyrule and ride around on Epona jumping fences and stuff. I actually can’t remember if I ever beat it, but I logged a lot of hours messing around. I remember it felt like such a huge open world, and now it’s minuscule compared to Breath of the Wild. It’s really cool looking back on how big these older games felt at the time vs how big games are now. Gaming has come a long way!

Mine was a Super Nintendo, and I still think nothing compares to Super Mario World. It probably created too strong of an early core memory 0_0

Where i was born and raised, we had access to tech of the previous decade. In mid 2000'smy family was enjoying movies on a VHS. So, at my 5 years of age (2004) i was playing with my first console ever: a Nintendo 64. Super Mario 64, Oot, Golden Eye, Donkey Kong and Dark Rift were most of my childhood. Now my brain just gives up to low-poly, colorful and fun little indie games.

I received an original GameBoy (the grey one) from my Dad, which he had played for years. He had many games, but most didn't catch my interest (save for Tetris and Joust). I played the heck out of those games.
I eventually traded the system, and a bunch of games into a GameStop when the GameBoy Advance came out.
I'll always cherish those memories and the legacy of that original Nintendo system I received. I wish I had the finances as a child to keep the original and upgrade; but the upgrade was so, so worth it. Got me into Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Megaman, Zelda...so many good memories.

@SwampCreature I believe my first system was a Colecovision! My mother introduced me to gaming, usually with simple titles that I could play with her or watch along.
I have a great love for some of the old titles like LadyBug, Carnival, Loopin', and Time Pilot. Also? That FONT. I don't know what it is... it's so humble and it just makes me happy.

I love Spyro and Pokemon red/blue/green though there is a special place in my heart for pokemon yellow. I
I used Lets' Go Eevee to introduce my kids to the world of pokemon. It's the best because I know all the pokemon and the game, so i am SO COOL.

Oh I forgot I also had Aladdin and Toy Story. You are right they were so damn hard for no reason! Obviously the trauma of playing them has erased the experience from my mind. I vaguely remember cobras and someone throwing apples. Funny thing is I still have my genesis downstairs and I should totally break it out.

Sega Genesis! It came with Sonic 2, and I played that game to death. I also loved Pocahontas, The Lion King, and Sonic and Knuckles. I only ever played the beginning levels of Ecco over and over because the game scared me so much.
Primal Rage was another good one, still one of my favorite fighting games. I also had James Pond 2??? Never played the first one, but had the second. I still remember that the code to skip levels in Aladdin is A B B A A B B A, thanks brain. Definitely needed that information stored for the last 25 years.I went to a garage sale maybe 15 years ago, and someone sold me like thirty Sega games for $15 or $20 bucks, I was ecstatic. I still have my original Genesis with OG controllers, and it still works, which is pretty impressive.

@SerasStreams I hate that I still get excited about pokemon lol. Like I don't follow the new stuff, I pretty much checked out after they went over 251 (I always count Mew) for games, cards, etc. But I was really tempted to buy the newest Cards Against Pokemon expansion lol.

@mianngu yep! At least in the 64' version, you will get the little guy with the sign following you around the whole time though.
