Favorite Video Game That Resonated?

Hey everyone! First time chatting here and pretty excited to interact with the community/find community here.
I would also love to find fellow gamers to talk with especially on discord:
I already love this community so made a fan-made community discord for fun(if that's okay with people!)
But aside from that: Any video games that resonated with you after playing? For me, I have many games that left me in tears after playing or even shocked I got to the end because I was just that engrossed into the story. I've played a game called Octopath Traveler where the characters, ironically enough, spell out OCTOPATH and as you progress, you see how the stories of the characters intertwine with each other. Trying my best to keep it spoiler-free haha, but my favorite character is Primrose who I resonated a lot with as she was going through inner turmoil and struggle and facing betrayal from certain people. For me, it rocked me pretty hard as I had my fair share of life's curveballs.
I can go on a whole essay about gaming and how it feels like it speaks so much to one's life minus the obvious fictional elements LOL.

@AvetaArduinna Hi Aveta! This is a great question, I typically like to play some cozy games that aren't too heavy, like Stardew Valley (and some other cozy ones that are still in progress for the Switch). I think the games with stories that have resonated with me would be Heavy Rain - getting to make choices as a character that influence the story outcome.
I also really enjoy BOTW but I wish that after you defeat Ganon, the world starts rebuilding and Link helps with that. Similar to the way that you help build a single town. I would love it if the game continued like that and we got to experience the revival of Hyrule a little bit or had to go around and kill all the monsters to make it safe again. That sort of thing.
We are hoping to create a Discord Community in the near future for LiveTale where we can all keep talking and getting to know each other. We hope to use it for sharing dev updates and streaming some processes as well as we work.

The Last of Us parts 1 and 2 were games that resonated with me deeply, and it's great that they're releasing a show for it now! Shadow of the Colossus is another game that gave me a lot of feels, I cried at the end the first time I played it, and I've replayed it several times throughout the years. I haven't played Octopath Traveler, but I've heard a ton of good things about it, and Square Enix has consistently put out great games as long as I can remember.

Oh, man. I have quite the attachment to SoulsBorne games. This probably is going to sound silly, but uh... I really enjoy the suffering I guess? Because the moment you finally overcome a boss can be downright euphoric. It maybe took several days, but eh. My first introduction into these games was Bloodborne, and I think that might be my favorite out of all the ones I've played. Sekiro comes in at a close second, though. I remember binging a bunch of this youtuber's (Vaatividya I think is their handle) videos covering all the story lines riddled throughout the game and appreciating it so much more. It is kind of upsetting that some of the things you would need to find in the game to know about these stories are not something you would necessarily encounter going about your regular business in the game. You would have to be extremely thorough in your play, which not everyone is down to do, understandably. In my opinion, all the side stories you would find in Bloodborne are well worth the extra exploration. To this day one of my top favorite characters in video games is Eileen the Crow, Hunter of Hunters -
I have never played a game that effected me quite the way the Mass Effect trilogy did. I cried so hard at some points, it was dumb, lol!

@AvetaArduinna Ohhh I totally agree! Octopath was such a surprisingly good playthrough and loved all the different personas.
One of my all time favorites has been Journey. I remember beating it in one sitting when I was in college and was totally blown away by the art, the music and especially the ending. Surprisingly emotional :*)

@AvetaArduinna Great question! I had to think a lot about this and I even surprised myself with the answer I came up with.
I've played a bunch of games with stories that stuck with me for a while, but the one that resonated with me the most has to be Firewatch. It was the first one I ever played that showed me you could tell a story without a "gameplay loop" or puzzle mechanics or fights between cutscenes, and still it being a video game instead of a movie/show really added to the atmosphere, my immersion and my emotional investment in the story.

I love Undertale! I still remember my first time playing it; realizing it could be played...differently, and feeling totally guilty during it, but loving it
I have so many games to add to my list; younger me could never have imagined how many games there would be to play in the future. I'm always adding to my collection on Steam when there's a sale, but I definitely have a big backlog at this point.

Earthbound and Yume Nikki are probably the games that have really stuck with me personally. There's a lot to it, but needless to say, I hold them both in the highest of respect.
