    • Lightning round: Weird crossovers chain

Let's do a weird crossover chain. Each successive person takes one of the prior canons and Xs it with a new canon.

SPOILER TAG things that are newer.

@Mariano riffed an entertaining fake Twilight x Cowboy Bebop fanfic. Some highlights:

Q: "Why did you make Edward Cullen stuck in Ein's body?"
A: "It's for something down the line, it helps Edward bond with Jacob with a now shared canine understanding."

Q on Bella's inevitable resulting jealousy: "Bella gets omg so jealous angsty."
A: "Yeah but that's the trigger she needs to realize it was always Jet...This is post-New Moon divergence so there's no baby"

Q on whether the Eds get mixed up
A: "I'm not debasing my art by using such a philistine trope...We just have a 'You guys have an Ed too?' line and that's it"

Tagging @Mariano to now do Twilight X Game of Thrones

    • RE: Board games and your recommendations

@Alexander-Salkin I've heard great things about Robo Rally, especially for large groups.

@mianngu Some that are great for replayability and have an element of randomness:

      • Ra (25th Century Games just issued a reprint). Plays up to 5. Better with more players.
      • Citadels Best with 5-8 players.

Great replayability and more involved, less randomness

      • Power Grid Best with 4-6 players
      • Agricola Good for 2-4
      • Bohnanza Awesome with 5-8 players. It's a trading game.
      • Brass: Birmingham Great with 3-4 players.
      • 7 Wonders Great with 5-7
      • Root Great for all numbers. It's an asymmetric game.
      • Wingspan 4 players

      2-player games. Great replayability

      • 7 Wonders Duel (with the Pantheon expansion)
      • Rivals for Catan
      • Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small

      Collaborative game to check out

      • Spirit Island

    • RE: What was your first gaming system?

Mine was a Super Nintendo, and I still think nothing compares to Super Mario World. It probably created too strong of an early core memory 0_0

    • RE: Players trying to cheat in your sessions

@Mariano Agree–this seems to be just a way to cheat yourself out of having fun. Players are just robbing themselves of the delight of innocently outmaneuvering the DM. DMs' expressions and responses when this happens are at least a quarter of the fun.

    • Favorite memory from early days of Web 2.0

Early days of Web 2.0 were a fun time. People were trying different things just for the hell of it as they explored what the internet could be. What are some bizarre, fun, hard-to-remember-they-existed things you remember from those days?

    • RE: A question I haven't seen asked yet

      @Lynx316 Correct! That's what I meant.

P.S. Just a friendly reminder to note that winning Tales from the contest have a special condition: winning Tales will have a non-compete period of two (2) years from the winner announcement date. During this period, winning Tales cannot be sold or licensed to Unplay's competitors. This is in the contest's terms of service you see when you submit your Tale.

    • RE: A question I haven't seen asked yet

@Lynx316 Thanks for your question! That would depend on which aspects of your Tale you'll be using within the other media. Would all aspects—including, but not limited to, characters and design—of the new media (be it a board game, video game, novelization, etc.) be part of your original tale, and originally your creations? If the answer is a definitive yes, then you are using only your own IP, and you should go for it! If, however, there are other players' and/or creators' efforts within the new work you are trying to create, that would need to be a longer and more in-depth discussion.

Note: Questions of IP and creator credit are so idiosyncratic to the situation, so for a hypothetical situation, this is all we can say at this point of development! If you have further details, feel free to send them along.
