I know we have a lot of very creative people here on the forums, and I’d love to hear about your favorite original character or characters! Doesn’t matter if they’re from a game or a short story or whatever other fiction you’ve come up with, I want to hear about them. What makes them your favorite? How long have they been around? Do you have any art of them? Share in the comments please!

Years back, when i was working thru some grief with the loss of a family member, i created a character who was a purely evil old hag cursed with madness at the end of her life to only do what is purely good. She wasn't "undead", but rather in the death throws: lifeless eyes, mindless convulsions, and could only say 3 words, which becomes her name to those who meet her. Somehow, she won't die, but she doesn't function as the living do. Something like "weekend at bernies" meets "Steven King's IT", but imagine if Female Danny Divito was Pennywise (without clown makeup), and although horrifying, can only act as a force of goodwill.

I have quite a few, but I think it would have to be a character in my latest WIP. Severin Moth

Severin is seen as the most beautiful Prince of the kingdom of Moth. He has flowing black hair, dresses in the finest silk robes. He smells of flowery scented oils and wears a thin layer of body powder to make himself look inhumanly beautiful. He spends his time in brothels and opium dens, intermingling with the darker parts of society, gathering little birds who feed him information on all the seven kingdoms.

He is also known as the poisoned prince. His gift has made his blood a poison, his sweat an alluring scent, his saliva a hallucinogen and his bite a paralytic. Under the finely applied powder his skin is yellowed with jaundice and covered in black veins.

Because of this, Severin keeps everyone he loves at a distance. His sarcastic nature plays down his fear of killing anyone who grows to close to him

I would say Aris is mine. It's set in a world I wrote, where most of the planets surface is inhabitable. Flying cities, ships, and mountain peaks are the only places left for people to carve out an existence. A large collective chunk of human memory and history has been stolen from everyone. Adapts, the folk who gained a sort of superhuman ability in the beginning have been going missing for the last few decades. The Collective preaches that an angry rival goddess is the reason for all the devastation and that she could reemerge again, thus the oppression of all woman began with their seeds of distrust.

Aristotle (a borrowed name) was smuggled out of the Sky City as a child with instructions to find her uncle in the Unclaimed Skies. We meet her in present day, under the guise of a man, ruthlessly leading a crew of mercs. Her machinations are unclear in the beginning, but later revealed that she is searching for the missing Adapts and the mystery about their disappearance. She is not an Adapt herself however, but she is not entirely "normal" either. With the loss of history and human memory, came the loss of preventable and treatable diseases. Medically, she has a build up of metals (I won't say which in case my future audience ever reads this lol) and it has affected her more than just physically. She is hard, uncaring, and basically psycho in her ambitions. She is careless with the lives of others. Her weapon of choice is a spear that features a unique long chain with a morning star on the opposite end. But I really can't say more without revealing everyone's part in the story, and she is not meant to be the MC either. But Aris, and a whole cast of characters in this world have been living in my head for about 16 years.

I think she is my favorite because of how she handles herself facing odds she doesn't even know about.

Back in the day, I made a weird adventure webcomic that last around eight years. It was about a spiritually inclined young woman with gothic sensibilities named Ahab (second from the right) and her often strange adventures to find herself in a secondary underground world that was living alongside our own. I originally started the comic as a fluke, having become disillusioned with a different one before it. But it grew on me, and in a way, so did the character and her individualist contemplative nature. I think for me it was cathartic and helped me work through things I was dealing with back then, so I find myself still fond of Ahab to this day.

(Incidentally, this is not my illustration, but a commissioned artist's take on my designs for Ahab and her friends. I couldn't find anything in my style that I wanted to put up from all the way back then.)

              I'd rather be creating!

@TableTopProphet β€œfemale Danny Devito Pennywise” is so cool I don’t even know what to do, love it

@merlin I love all the details, it’s clear you have a very distinct mental image of him. Do you have any particular actors or otherwise real people who you picture as Severin?

@Ezra wowwwwwww EXTREMELY cool, I’m so envious of people who can craft whole universes like that! I don’t have the imagination for it myself but I’m always in awe of others who do.

@Alexander-Salkin didn’t expect to see a webcomic as a response but I’m geeked!!! That’s so awesome! Cool concept and I love that art, thank you for sharing!!

I actually had to look up actors to match the image in my head. Closest I could find was Ezra miller, with longer hair.

@SwampCreature Honestly it came from reading more. Like at first all I could do was make cool characters. But I never liked bland fiction that takes place in "our" world so I kept building. It really is a world 10 years in the making lol. I just need the time to write, and ideally, to not feel so stressed as that doesn't help for shit lol
