The Last Of Us Tv Show

Has anyone else been watching? Has anyone played the games? I've played both games and loved them so much that I even mentioned it in another thread on here. I'm really enjoying the show (Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are so good); anything the show has changed is in line with the heart and message of the show, which is impressive considering how most video game adaptations have gone in the past. One of the things I find difficult is that in TLOU games, tragic events happen many hours apart from each other, but in the show, it's one tragic thing after another, so I'm CONSTANTLY CRYING AND HAVING MY HEART RIPPED OUT.
(Also, please avoid posting any spoilers)

@Kendall I couldn't agree with you more. I think the show does a brilliant job of expanding on characters and storylines further than the games did while also keeping the spirit of the game at the forefront. I love what they did with Bill especially (I do wonder why they wound up deciding to deviate from the story in the way that they did, though, I love it I'm just curious what thoughts/ideas went into that considering what happened in the game). But yeah, woof, I've cried during every episode except for one. It is an emotionally taxing story, and I'm glad that they are letting out episodes weekly rather than all at once. I can't imagine binging all of it in one day, and then being left with the ending I think we are going to get left with

I watched the last episode on Sunday; ugh, so good. I didn't end up crying during it, but it was still super emotional for me, and I think they did the games a lot of justice. I can't wait for season 2!

@Kendall I was surprised that I didn't cry during it, though the beginning of the episode sparked some tears, I think just from nostalgia. I can't wait for season 2, but oh man. More emotional damage

I binged all of it over the last couple of weekends, what an great show in general, but an even better adaptation. Pedro and Bella knocked it out of the park in every scene, and I loved seeing some of the game actors playing their characters or doing cameos as different ones.
I was a bit disappointed when I heard there was going to be a season 2, because I loved the game + show's ending; but then I found out that the game TLOU Part II is an actual sequel I know nothing about?! My dumb ass thought people called the Left Behind DLC "Part II", but there's a whole other game out there, wild.
Highlights for me were definitely: Ep 3 with Bill and Frank, it had me sobbing at multiple points; and the focus on the world and characters and less so the infected (which I think gameplay-wise, the game did need). If you'd told me beforehand there was gonna be almost no infected scenes, I probably would've been a bit bummed, but in hindsight it was 100% the right call.
Looking forward to season 2!

@Mariano TLOU part two is SO good, my partner and I played through the first game a couple of months before the second one dropped, and we were really impressed by how well the second one holds up to the first. It had a lot of controversy surrounding it because of the antagonist, which I personally think was completely unwarranted, and a symptom of how toxic the gaming community can be. The 'plot twist' that happens partway through was completely unexpected and an incredible mechanic for a game imo. It had never been done before, and I found it so captivating.
I don't know if I have ever cried harder watching something than during episode 3 of that show, lol. I was full on sobbing by the end. I also liked how they used the infected sparingly, I think the scenes that did show them showed how absolutely destructive and terrifying they were when encountered. If you run into them, expect that someone will die.
