What rpg podcasts are you listening to lately?

I've just picked back up on the Adventure Zone, currently listening to the second Amnesty Arc. I've got a soft spot for Cryptids so I love this Monster of the Week format.

What does everyone think about the upcoming Worlds Beyond Number with Brennen and Crew?

Not exactly an RPG podcast, but related: Hello from the Magic Tavern is a laugh riot.

@Kykeon lmao their first arc/adventure I think is their best one because its so far the longest and they get to develop their characters a lot more

@Katie I need to listen to more ttrpg podcasts; I love Brennan, and I love the McElroy's, so I should get into each of their respective podcasts first I think. I also love cryptids, so I know I'd enjoy the Monster of the Week the McElroy's do a lot too. There's just SO MUCH CONTENT, it can be a bit overwhelming to start knowing I have so much to catch up on.

Edit: Also, Hello From The Magic Tavern is one of my favorite podcasts of all time. I don't know if anything has ever made me laugh as hard as some of their episodes.

@Kendall For getting started with the Adventure Time podcast I recommend starting with their first adventure arc because it's magical, especially in the later episodes. After that campaign is done they test out different rule sets/mechanics with short one-shots and my fave from that was Amnesty which is the Cryptids Monster of the Week one, which is the one they do a second season of later on.

Another Adventure Zone fan here! I started listening during Balance and I love cryptids so I was real geeked about Amnesty. I haven't listened to the latest season yet, though.

None. I get no enjoyment listening to other people play RPGs. I mean, I understand why some people enjoy it, but I feel the same way about RPG podcasts and I do about watching other people play video games on YouTube or Twitch.

I would much rather be playing than listening. Time spent listening is time I could be spending working on my campaigns.

@Luke That makes sense, I like listening so that I can hear how others roleplay and craft their stories - it helps me learn about how I can roleplay as a character to further the story we are trying to tell and helps me think about how my character would respond to a situation not just what would make the best outcome.

I listen to a slew of them that are focused on providing GM advice, tips and tricks. The Lazy RPG Podcast, Mastering Dungeons, The Dungeoncast, Grumpy Dungeon Masters, Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG Talk, Dungeon Master's Block, Speak Common and Everyday Dungeon Master. There was a hilarious one called Lore & Pour, but I'm not sure it's going to continue--the last episode was October of last year. It was like Drunken History but about D&D lore. Some very funny episodes there.

@AGreaterMonster Wow, there are so many! I'm adding them to my list for sure.

We've recently been listening to The Magnus files which are a little spooky, SPC archive-style stories. I def recommend it to everyone.

@Katie Cool, I'll check that podcast out. The ones that I mentioned are all free on Audible to listen to even if you don't have a subscription. I pretty much rotate through them each morning while I'm exercising. I like to pick up inspiration for adventures or NPCs or just tips and advice on running good games. I used to a be pretty religiously listening to Critical Role but I lost interesting in liveplay when they started their third season. Jumping to another rule system that I have never actually played, but I loved the liveplay series--Vampire: the Masquerade. They have an awesome really compelling liveplay campaign that ran for a couple seasons. The performances of the players is really good and the DM I believe is one of the core creators/producers/writers of the rule system? I'm pretty sure. Let me find the link...Oh yeah, on the World of Darkness Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/worldofdarkness
It's the L.A. by Night series and then N.Y. by Night. So good! But I haven't really had interest in liveplay too much because I'm investing more in DMing and learning new roleplaying game systems as well as playing.
