I know there are some legendary stinkers out there (Superman 64, the ET game that got buried in the desert...) but what's the worst game you've personally played?

Off the top of my head, I think one of the worst I've ever played was a survival horror game called Amy - it was one long escort quest! I hate escort quests!!! Add in some of the most egregiously awful story tropes ever and horrible controls and I found myself angry I ever picked it up.

What are the games that made you wish you'd never picked up a controller?

Amy is a game I haven't thought of in ages! I remember it had a contentious reputation even back in the day. "Good in concept, but terrible in execution" or something along those lines.

I remember really disliking Hydlide back on the old NES. I rented it a few times and I couldn't make sense of how to make real progress. The combat system consisted of just running into things while they ran into you and your health was constantly draining, unless I'm mistaken. Having no idea how to heal, I felt like I was in a race to level up for the extra hp versus my constant draining. Like a worse version of the Tower of Druga.

        I'd rather be creating!

Hard to answer, mainly because when you review games for beer money, you're going to be playing a lot of bad games.

Death To Spies - An early review title. It was supposed to be a sort of WWII-era Soviet-themed Splinter Cell sort of affair. It was painfully bad. Shoddy controls, lousy character movement, just godawful all around.

The Suicide of Rachel Foster - Don't imagine a "Lifetime Original Movie" made into a video game. Imagine a "Lifetime Original Movie" that somebody screwed up trying to make into a video game. This particular "walking simulator" wanted to deliver a psychological thriller with "a very important message," and it totally dropped the ball.

Empyre: Dukes of The Far Frontier - A terrible steampunk sequel to a terrible steampunk game. It was so buggy, I was physically unable to reach the end of it.
